Social Skills:

A social skills group has been developed to assist children and adolescents in refining the skills they use on a daily basis to interact with others. Most children struggle with relationships, peer anxiety and pressure, as well as problems with some teachers and other adults. These groups are activity based and age appropriate focusing on a variety of social skills. Following is a list of possible social skills that would be practiced in a social skills group:

  • Assertiveness

  • Communication

  • Asking for help

  • Perspective taking

  • Listening

  • Compromise

  • Negotiation

  • Problem solving

  • Decision making

  • Dealing with emotions

  • Value development

  • Peer pressure
